A time to give thanks

We spent Thanksgiving with my family in Pueblo. My parents, my brother and his family, and my uncle (my mom's brother who just had multiple bypass surgery 7 weeks ago. He is doing so wonderfully! He has been at home for two weeks now, has lost weight & is getting stronger everyday. That's the biggest thing we are all thankful for this year!)
Here is my brother, his wife and the three "bugs".

Add me & G- and that's all the kids. (We left the "grand-puppies", as my parents call them, outside, but we did have them there with us, and the girls we so excited to get to play with them we had a hard time getting them to eat their lunch!)

Doodlebug wasn't in the mood for posing.

But Bugaboo & Taterbug were!

Jonah decided he wanted to play, and brought the frisbee to Bugaboo to play tug-o-war! (My parents' dog, Snickers, wanted to get in on the fun too!)

Show Bugaboo your tricks Jonah! Shake hands...

"Bang" You're dead!

Taterbug wants to give the puppies "coooookies" too!

Hugs all around. It was a good day!

We had a good time and stayed at my parents house Thursday & Friday night. G and my mom and I got up at 2:15am on Black Friday to hit the sales. I will NEVER EVER get up that early to go shopping again! There is no sale that great to be camped out in the low teen temps at midnight or earlier like others had done. And if you don't get in line that early you have no shot at the sale stuff anyway (we thought we would have a great shot being there before three since the store didn't open until 5a- NOT!!! There were hundreds already lined up!) But all in all it was a great time, although we are glad to be back home now.
Christmas is looming just around the corner. We were hoping to get to spend Christmas in Kansas with G's family, but aren't sure if we will be able to now. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can get logistics figured out...

What?? No Christmas? What happened?

When we originally called and asked to bring the puppies with us for Christmas, the 'rents said okay. But then this last week MIL called and said now we can't bring them. We don't know what to do with them now- it's already too cold here to let them be outside for five days (water has been frozen every day)- not to mention Oreo had a little bit of frost bite on her feet. Every other alternative has not worked out, so we are stuck as to what to do. We may just have to make a quick trip & drive in on Monday & drive home on Wednesday.

Megs and I waited until 9:30a to head out... She got the camera and boots she wanted, I got the comforter I wanted, and we picked up a few other things here and there... The only thing we didn't manage to get was the special scrap-booking cutting board thing she wanted, but it wasn't that big a deal. We were back at her house by 2:30p... The worst place was Kohl's where Megs waited in line for an hour, but while she waited in line, I was able to hit up Target and Sams in the meantime, and she "shopped" via cell phone (thank goodness for unlimited mobile to mobile!). A bit unorthodox, perhaps, but it worked for us. :-D

Just FYI - I finished my "tag" so be sure to check it out. Also, your name is currently showing over on the right where you link to your "blog archive." I thought you'd want to know so you can take it off... I love the picture of you guys you have there on the right :-D

What about a kennel? That's what my sister does with her dogs when they go out of town. It's not my favorite thing to do, but it is safe, and if you can't find a house sitter.

I think your puppies would be just as cold here because they'd still be outside...everyone is a little on edge here b/c there have been 2 SERIOUS pit bull attacks in the last week.

Oh, forgot to tell you...that store only had 2T on those shirts...they were so cute! But, you could probably make them...that would be a cute Christmas gift.

Laura- We decided not to worry so much about it since if you click on the photo link our names are there as well. But will still probably use the initials just to be consistent... :-)

Sally- The only kennel here is unsatisfactory and way too expensive as well. And from what little research we have done so far- many of the attacks that the news covers are not pure bread pits- they are some kind of mix with a more aggressive breed, and most often they have been mistreated or trained to be aggressive. Just because they look similar to pits, that's what the media calls them. When we originally asked to bring them, the plan was to put them in their "cage" in the garage at night so that they wouldn't be lose in the garage, but they wouldn't be outside in the cold. And they would be on cables staked into the ground during the day. They would not be in the house, or around anyone who does not go out to where they are at. They are not viscious dogs and are more likely to love someone to death than anything else, they are eager to please and very smart- and we are very proud of them. We just wish that we were trusted enough to know what our dogs' personalities are, and that we would not put anyone, especially family in danger- if we had any doubt we wouldn't have them at all. See the pics we posted for reference:-)
And thanks for the t-shirt idea- I might just do something like that! :-)
